Food for Fines

What is Food for Fines?

The “Food for Fines” initiative at the University of Florida allows individuals to donate canned proteins or canned soups in exchange for dismissing their eligible parking citations.

 

This initiative supports The Hitchcock Field & Fork Pantry, while providing an alternative way for students, faculty, and staff to address their fines.

When is it?

OCTOBER 21-25, 2024

 

Eligibility

Participants: Any person with a current University of Florida Gator 1 ID is eligible (ticket must be in the same person’s name).

Eligible Citations: Only parking citations valued up to $35.

Citation Age: Citations must be less than 6 months old and have been issued between April 21 – October 21, 2024.

Donation Requirements

Type of Donations: Only canned proteins (e.g., canned tuna, chicken, beans) or canned soups.

Condition: Cans must be sealed, unopened, not expired, and meet the following size requirements:

  • Soup: 15oz or greater
  • Canned Meat: 12oz or greater
  • Quantity:

  • 5 cans: One Citation
  • 10 cans: Two Citations
  •  


    Terms and Conditions

    Maximum Of Four Citations Per Person: Up to four (4) citations per person may be forgiven during the academic year.

    Citation Dismissal: The program only covers the citation itself; any late or collection fees must be paid separately.

    Donation Drop-off: Donations must be made at TAPS (Transportation and Parking Services) at the University of Florida. The office is at 1273 Gale Lemerand Dr., Gainesville, FL 32611. Hours for Drop-Off are 8A-4P.
